The Haiti Team is Off and Running! Day one - Wednesday
The Haiti Mission is off and running! Here is a picture of the team gathered together. We have Ben and Helen Jones from Phoenix, Dave Bosch from Allendale, Tim and Jean LeMahieu from Shelby, Michigan, Cathy VanderSteen from Grand Rapids, and Jon DeBruyn from Traverse City. Steve Van Zanen will join the team later. Here we are after arriving at the Haitian Christian Reformed Church ministry center where we will be staying for much of the time,
Our trip to Haiti went well. We arrived late afternoon at the Port au Prince airport. Gathering all the luggage, including some extra luggage for some of the missionaries, is not a small task! But we gathered it all on top of the vehicle and began our introduction to Haiti and to Port au Prince. Jenny LeMahieu met us at the airport and drove us to the Ministry Center.
We are all staying in the dormitories at the Haiti Christian Reformed Church Ministry Center. This evening we had a wonderful Haitian meal and a team meeting with Jenny introducing us to some essential parts of Haitian culture. An early bed time is necessary so we can all make our 7:00 a,m, devotion time and team meeting.
